"Buddy" - The New Addition to the Family
This is "Buddy" 8 weeks old - May 2007
Buddy is the latest addition to our family. Buddy was found under a wooded area, during the harsh cold weather MD had experienced lately. He was cuddled up in the belly of his mother - a pure bred rottweiler in Garrett County MD. Both were in survival mode - Buddy's mom trying to keep herself and her baby warm in order to survive the bitter cold night.
Tails of Hope rescue group found him and his mom. Sadly his mother didn't make it - at 5 weeks old Buddy was left without a mom. Tails of Hope rescued him - I immediately volunteered to foster the little guy.
After a few days in a warm home with plenty of food, water and some big foster sisters to play with - Buddy very quickly settled in and began to regain his strength and health.
After being well integrated into my family - how could I really let him go!!!
On May 25th 2007 - I made a decision to adopt the little guy - I know if he could talk he would be just saying "thank you " mom LOL!!!!
Here are some pictures of the little guy.. enjoy.
He is 8 weeks old in these pictures. He actually looks like a brown rottie with a docked tail.. how cute is he!!!

Prince's Cancer Update
Today is September 4th 2006 - 9 days after Prince was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma (tumor of the spleen) which has matestasized to the lungs.
I started treating Prince with Artemisinin 5 days ago - eliminated all antioxidents, but have kept him on his raw diet (meat and vegetable), cottage cheese and flaxseed oil, and digestive enzymes.
Two days ago - I started him on a homeopathic - which has been successful for treating lung cancer in humans using (Carcinosin) and as part of the treatment and will commence Lucupodium the following week and alternate weeks using the "Plussing method". So far so good.. its a time consuming method but have read great testimonies in humans using these homeopathics and this 'method'.
Well today Labor Day (September 4th) he is doing GREAT. 8 days ago Prince was unable to stand on his back legs - unable to go to the bathroom without having me support his back end to prevent him from falling over, today I have noticed a distinct improvement in his strength and his energy level. He has started barking again at aeroplanes and fire engines again, as well as doing this obligatory "pack" howling along with my other 3 dogs at 6:30am. His alertness has imprved and has gained the enthusaism to want to go for walks. Although I am limiting his exercise - the fact that he has shown interest in his favorite activity once again is encouraging.
I am still closely monitoring his condition. I will keep updating.

Prince - 9 year old Rottie - Diagnosed with Cancer
Prince - 9 year old Rottie
On Friday August 25th 2006 - Prince my usually happy go lucky - "into everything" big teddy bear - without warning collapsed. When I found him he was laying motionless on the floor - unable to move, his gums were white and he felt unusually cold.
In a panic - I picked him up - its amazing where you get your strength from - (I weight 120lbs - Prince weighs 120lbs) - we headed to the emergency vet. They immediately took blood, did xrays as well as an ultrasound. Well the verdict was in - my 'baby' was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma i.e. tumor on his spleen which had metastasized to his lungs - I was horrified. It had to have been the worst news I have ever heard - I was hysterical to say the least.
The vet at the emergency room was extremely nice and sincere in her suggestion which was to euthanize him immediately, to eliminate any further suffering. As I drove to the hospital to say my last goodbyes - something in my spirit said ... "NO" you are not going to euthanize him - we cannot give up home on my baby that quickly. So I decided to take him home with me instead. The vet indicated to me that he would not last any longer than 24 hrs and was a huge risk taking him home - as I did not have access to any hospital supplies. This was a risk I was prepared to take - after all what were my options! I asked if they could hydrate him - which they did. This "perked" him up a bit.
As I brought him home - I looked at him - although he looked pitiful I was determined to fight for my baby's life.
When we arrived home I separated him from my other 3 dogs, in order to minimize any stress, or agitation - much to my young dog - Jade's dismay - as Prince was her "buddy" who she played and tormented all the time.
I immediately began to research products - in the meantime I administerd to him an array of immune building supplements. This involved - Essiac Tea, Noni, Vitamin E and C, Astragalus. Additionally I added Cottage Cheese and Flaxseed oil.
Almost immediately he looked better - but was still very weak and pretty much still on the edge.
Through hrs and hrs of research, I came across testimonies after testimonies on a product called Artemisinin - which has been researched by Dr Henry Lai at the University of Seattle, Washington.
I contacted Dr Lai. He was extremely helpful and suggested I start Prince on the Artemisinin immediately. I did. He specifically indicated tome that when using this product you cannot use any antioxidents as it hinders the effectiveness of Arteminisin. I followed his instructions to the letter.
Additionally I contacted a wonderful holistic vet who immediately started treating Prince with a homeopathic remedy used for treating lung cancer in humans, incorporating a method called "The Plussing Method".
I am watching Prince closely to see his progress. I will provide updates regularly.
